Benefits of Installing a Mountain Hatch Tailgate Cutting Board

While the obvious benefit of the Mountain Hatch tailgate panel is that it allows you to quickly and easily turn your truck’s tailgate into the official camp kitchen and food prep station (complete with cup holders!), we found it provides a couple additional benefits as well.

Before we installed our Mountain Hatch tailgate panel on our truck, we were constantly hurting our knees on the rough and uneven surface of our factory OEM tailgate panel while getting in and out of the truck bed. The mountain hatch tailgate cutting board solved this problem by providing a nice smooth surface to kneel on when climbing in and out.

It can also serve a variety of other uses outside the camping kitchen. It can be a portable workbench, a camp table, wild game cleaning station when hunting, or even a diaper changing station in a pinch!

How to Install a Mountain Hatch Tailgate Panel

One of our favorite aspects of the Mountain Hatch Tailgate Panel is how easy it is to install. In the majority of cases it involves simply removing a handful of screws from your factory tailgate panel and swapping in the mountain hatch tailgate panel using the supplied hardware.

Here’s a more detailed walkthrough video of the installation process so you can see for yourself how easy it is:

PRO TIP: Due the smooth surface of the Mountain Hatch tailgate panel, things can slide a bit if you’re parked a little unlevel. We found that adding a thin strip of traction tape* to the outer edge of the cutting board surface will help prevent this from happening.

About the Mountain Hatch Company

While Mountain Hatch got its start as the creator of the original tailgate cutting board, this Texas based family-owned business has recently begun offering Australian-style Swag tents and overland camping trailers.

We love the fact that Mountain Hatch is also an active supporter of law enforcement personnel, veterans, teachers, firefighters, first-responders, and long-haul truck drivers - offering any of these public servants discounts on their products.

We use our Mountain Hatch tailgate panel every day when we’re camping and traveling in our truck and hope this simple truck camping mod can improve your truck camping setup too!
